                         (Frequently Asked Questions)

• What are your fees?                                               Initial appointment: $185; 45 minute treatment session $165; Psychological Evaluation: $165 an hour for administration, scoring, and report writing; $195 an hour for marriage counseling.

• What insurance panels are you on?                  Health Choice; Medicaid for children and adolescents, Medicare, Out of network is provided for many insurance plans.

• When do you expect payment?                                Clients are encluraged to pay what their insurance does not pay at the time of service.  Full payment is expected until the deductible is met.  For out of network clients, we will file for you.  Out of network clients will pay the difference between the payment to be made by the insurance company and my fee.  Blue Cross Blue Shield clients are asked to pay the full fee at the time of the session.  The BC/BS subscriber will be reimbursed by BC/BS directly.         
  
• How do I know if my child needs an evaluation or therapy?                                                                If he or she is not developing properly with self help skills, social skills, or academic achievement then an evaluation is needed to determine why and therapy may be needed to assist in his development.                                          
  
• Is a referral necessary?                                             Only with Medicaid.  With Carolina Access Medicaid the referral can come from the primary care doctor or group listed on the card or the Beacon Center (252-937-8141).  If your child does not have Carolina Access Medicaid then the referral has to come from the Beacon Center.

• What is Dr. Gregory's experience and training?                I received my training at Wake Forest University (BA) East Carolina University (MA) and Duke University (Ph.D).                                                                       I am a member of the American Psychology Association, North Carolina Psychology Association, past president and member of the Division of Professional Practice of the North Carolina Psychology Association, former member of the North Carolina Licensing Board for Psychologists, and the Wilson Mental Health Association.  I was a consultant at the local Mental Health Center for 21 years where I provided psychological evaluations of children and adolescents as well as supervising the staff in the treatment of children and adolescents.  Prior to that I was Psychological Services Director of the Mental Health Center where I worked primarily with children, adolescents, and their parents.  I have provided group therapy at the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Wilson Medical Center and led groups in weight loss and smoking cessation.  Prior to that I was the Director of the Admissions area for the Psychiatric Unit at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina.  See my vita for more details.              
  

• Will you help me get custody or improved visitation with my child?                                                                      There is an inherent conflict between being a treatment provider seeking trust and cooperation and respecting confidentiality and a forensic evaluator.  One cannot do both effectively.  As a therapist trying to help a child I do not evaluate parents but rather try to assist them in helping the child.  Court recommendations need evaluations of parents and therefore it is recommended that someone else provide that impartial recommendation to the court.
